Norms that must be observed in grain transportation

The production of grains requires a large logistics operation, which helps to optimize the efficiency of the processes and avoid waste. However, to ensure the safety and quality of the products, it is necessary to follow a rigorous process of grain transportation to the destination and observe some rules of the regulatory agencies. Besides enabling compliance with the laws, this care helps to ensure product safety and quality and food safety.

Grain transportation begins long before it hits the highways. Producers must first plan all the steps from growing and harvesting, packing the produce, and storing it properly. Each of these steps poses a type of risk to the food until it reaches the final consumers. This is why observing the rules and using the right road equipment and implements is very important.

In this article, we will present the main rules that must be followed in grain transportation and give tips for a more efficient operation.

Get to know the rules for grain transportation

An important rule is Resolution No. 441, set by the National Transit Council (Contran), which refers to the choice of vehicle. According to the agency, grain transportation can only be done by trucks with closed body side guards or equipped with mesh screens. This measure contributes to avoid food waste during transportation. In addition, the cargo cannot exceed the limits of the vehicle’s body. Another important precaution is that the cargo must be covered by a tarpaulin anchored to the vehicle body and in good condition.

It is also necessary to have the vehicle’s documentation up to date and pay attention to the fiscal documents required for food transportation, such as the Electronic Tax Document Manifest (MDFe). It is required by the Secretariat of Finance and Planning as a way to inspect the transportation of cargo in the Brazilian territory. Remember that irregularities can generate fines and the seizure of the truck.

Rules for vehicle weights and dimensions

According to Contran’s Resolution No. 628, which provides for the weight and dimensions of vehicles, with or without cargo, the following limits must be observed:

I – maximum width: 2.60 m;
II – maximum height: 4.40m;
III – total length:

a) non-articulated vehicles: maximum of 14.00 meters;
b) non-articulated vehicles of urban passenger collective transport that have the 3rd directional support axle: maximum of 15 meters;
b1) non-articulated vehicles of road characteristic for the collective transport of passengers, in the 8X2 chassis configuration: maximum of 15 meters.

In addition to these limits, other precautions must be observed to increase safety. When loading the vehicle, never leave a heavier weight in different areas of the bucket, as this can cause instability in the vehicle. Excess weight can cause the load to lose control, tip over, and even damage the hydraulic equipment that lifts the bucket.

Pay attention to the body model

It is very important to pay attention to the fact that each type of body will require securing the cargo in a different way. The implements should help protect the food from factors such as humidity and heat, which can damage the cargo. The grain type truck is the most commonly used for transporting grains such as soybeans and corn.

The Robustec Bulk Dump Truck makes the transportation of grains with a lot of agility, practicality, and efficiency. Designed for a high performance yield, it has a reinforced structural steel structure and superior finishing, which offer a lot of robustness and safety. This implement facilitates the transportation of bulk products such as corn, soybean, wheat, oats, and also palletized materials or big bags.

Another outstanding piece of equipment is the Robustec agricultural roll-on roll-off box with fixed sides or with covers. Its lengths and heights meet the needs of rural producers and respect the load limits. This equipment speeds up the harvest, multiplying the transport capacity with the same truck.

Another differentiated equipment is the roll on – roll off ribbed box for the transportation of waste and various materials. Its cargo box is structured by wider and reinforced ribs, designed to ensure greater robustness and resistance. It is widely used by recycling companies, scrap metal, chips, among others. Produced in structural steel, it has a safety lock to open the gates from the side and wheels with special widths to avoid damaging the floor.

All Robustec products meet Contran’s norms and resolutions. The roll-on box complies with all measures, signs, and specifications required by traffic standards. Furthermore, it has a traceability seal, load indication, and product serial number. Thus, it is possible to guarantee greater safety and tranquility to your customers.
